Biography:

The Poorly Governed is an Alternative Country/Blues group based in Fort Worth, TX. The band's style encompasses a variety of influence to create a new, innovative sound of modern southern music. The band takes their love of classic country & blues and mixes it with fresh intuition to create a flavor of Americana with an identity of its own.

What started as a cover band among lifelong friends Barrett Monk & Mark Belding grew to much more as the group began writing original material with new band mate Alexander Seames. Monk brought his classically trained vocal talents and skilled harmonica & western swing influenced guitar rhythms. Belding brought master instrumentation and knowledge of the Texas music scene, having experienced playing live & tracking with artists such as Chance Ray & the Good Sinners, Left Arm Tan, & more.

The band created an acoustic based sound and a multi-vocal format after incorporating vocalist Emily Fitzgerald and her dynamic blues influence. The Poorly Governed began performing full band after teaming up with percussionist Chad Solis.

The Poorly Governed have opened for legendary artists such as Gary P. Nunn, Shenandoah, and continue to play regularly in the DFW metroplex.
